Reiki (霊気) Energy Healing Workshop + Dinner @ Raku Raku
For this exclusive event, we have something really really interesting. We'll be delving into a lil mysterious, slightly spiritual, and very niche part of Japanese culture called Reiki!
Reiki, or 霊気 in Japanese, is a form of alternative healing technique developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which 'vital energy' is allegedly transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the receiver in order to encourage emotional or physical healing. During the healing process, it is possible for both the healer and receiver to feel this transfer of energy.
As mysterious as this may sound, the first recorded instance of 霊気 actually dates back to Taoist meditation scrolls in 320BCE China. The Reiki of today, although considered pseudoscience, has planted its roots worldwide, with a significant number of practitioners in Singapore too.
For this meetup, we'll have Yng and Uma, both masters in this Japanese healing technique, to enlighten us on the history of Reiki, followed by a live demonstration of how Reiki works for each of us, and even how we can heal others as practitioners!

After we've been thoroughly healed, refreshed, and ready to take on the world, we'll launch ourselves to nearby 'Raku Raku Japanese Dining' for dinner. Raku Raku defines itself as an izakaya style establishment, with a mix of contemporary and traditional Japanese dishes on offer. Expect yakitori, salmon chirashi don, oden, and the likes!
